CANE History - the origins

1981 - six Catalina 30 owners formed the Catalina 30 N. Atlantic fleet #12.

The fleet grew rapidly during that time to about 80 boats from Maine to Rhode Island.

During the first three years the Fleet established: a spring Provincetown weekend, a north cruise, a south cruise, and off season winter tech sessions.

1999 - The Fleet continued to grow during the last several years, and was now open to all Catalina Sailboats.

1999-2000 - Richard and Nancy Albert were elected as the last Fleet Captains of Catalina 30 fleet 12, and the first Commodores of CANE as we know it today.

2000 - by this time we had over 100 boats with a mix of sizes from 27’ to 47’.

2002 - Richard and Nancy Albert voted honorary members for life.
