CANE West Marine Tech Session on Marine Survey

The annual West Marine Tech Session was held on Saturday, April 3rd at West Marine – Plymouth. The topic this year was Marine Surveys. Captain Paul Logue, a highly trained and experienced marine surveyor provided over 30 CANE members with a very thorough presentation. Paul presented information from both a sellers and buyers perspective. He provided vivid examples of issues he has faced while performing his inspections and provided tips that would help avoid problems. Fleet members took advantage of the Q & A time to address concerns. All in all the information presented will enable members to be better informed if and when they buy or sell a sailboat.

Commodore Mark Schmidt conducted a brief business meeting prior to the session. New member chair Dave Mariano reported on the New England Boat Show Membership Drive  which resulted in 5 new members. The next fleet activity is the Annual Memorial Day Brunch at the Mill Wharf Restaurant in Scituate Harbor on Sunday, May 30th( check the Fleet Calendar for more info). Mark and VC Paul Dardarno went over the Mass Bay Cruise itinerary. The annual cruise begins on Saturday , July 10th. Mini cruises are scheduled for the month of June for those interested and a Maine cruise for our northern members will begin on July 18th.

CANE is indebted to Don Larson, manager of West Marine- Plymouth for hosting this session and providing raffle gifts for attendees. Steve Steinberg won the big prize – an inflatable life jacket.
